Aspiration, Application, Achievement
The pupils at Brynmawr Foundation School have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of School life. Engaging and supporting the ‘Learner Voice’ in the School means that all members of the School Community have an opportunity to shape a collaborative vision, and work together to enable progression.
‘Learner Voice’ is a term used to describe activities that enable pupils to work in partnership with their teachers, Governing body and the wider community. It involves a co-operative approach between teachers, adults and students, and involves shared decision making and evaluation to enable improvement and progress.
The Learner Voice at Brynmawr Foundation School is promoted through individual Year Councils a wider School Council, and a Senior prefects team of year 11 pupils.
The Senior Prefects Team works closely with the SMT and Learner Voice groups to support both learners and teachers. They also support and run a number of initiatives across the School. Each Faculty has an associated Prefect team, which encourages pupils to contact a prefect with any queries in a specific subject whether it is exam, vocation, university or course related.
Prefects also attend options evenings, lead School charity events, and represent the School Community, playing an integral role in supporting links with local Primary Schools.
